Professional Networking Series

Virtual networks provide opportunities to interact with other educators and trainers who are implementing Project GLAD® strategies. They are uniquely designed to facilitate communication about GLAD®, share resources, and build collaboration. Choose the network that best fits your individual needs. HIGH EXPECTATIONS

The OCDE Project GLAD® model aligns to Multi-Tier System of Supports (MTSS) to ensure all student needs are met, highlighted here by California Department of Education’s reference to RTI2 Core Component Area 2: High Expectations.

OCDE PROJECT GLAD®
NATIONAL TRAINING CENTER

As the official Training Center for the OCDE Project GLAD® model, we are the international gold standard for GLAD® training.

35 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE

For over 35 years, the OCDE Project GLAD® National Training Center has provided exemplary training for educators both nationally and internationally, resulting in students’ access to quality instruction and high-levels of success.

TEACHING COMES ALIVE

We train teachers on how to make content come alive through sketching, pictures, chants, and media with corresponding language.  Deep cognition is developed through well-designed lessons building upon brain, biliteracy, second language acquisition, and reading & writing research.

HEALTHY ENVIRONMENTS

OCDE Project GLAD® classrooms promote environments that respect and honor each child’s voice, personal life experience, beliefs, language and culture.  We cultivate the social emotional learning (SEL) competencies of self-management, self-awareness, responsible decision-making, relationship skills and social awareness.

CUSTOMIZED SUPPORT

We work with schools, districts and educational agencies to identify needs and create customized supports for implementation.  A top priority is building sustainability to ensure all students get what they need.

TESTIMONIALS

  • Home
    Marissa, K-6 Principal

With GLAD®, you see that difference in teachers. Teachers are a lot more focused on the vocabulary and the visuals that go with it. Bringing GLAD® to them has really opened their eyes to a different way of teaching and it’s engaging our students too. There’s a lot more use of language as opposed to just copying the notes and regurgitating the questions.

    Carla, 1st Grade Teacher

The strategies are amazing and the demos are so very helpful in being able to implement them into the classroom. The trainers are SO knowledgeable!

    Joanne, 8th Grade Teacher

I feel like the strategies are relevant and easily adaptable to different classrooms, teaching styles, and learner needs. The model is highly meaningful, positive, and I believe substantially supports language and content learning.

    Ann, 5th Grade Teacher

Love the strategies to help kids stay accountable; language acquisition for ELs + ALL

    Jessica, 4th Grade Teacher

It’s the best teaching I have ever done. I loved teaching with OCDE Project GLAD® strategies and my students loved the learning.

If students don’t have access to the content that’s being delivered, which is usually in English, gains towards college and career opportunities become increasingly more challenging.. So I would say that this is applicable to all teachers in the most rural or the most densely urban cities. This is your integrated approach to teaching language.

Recognized as a model reform program by California Department of Education (CDE)

Identified as a training model for multiple Achieving Schools and Distinguished School award winners

Recommended as a K-12 project by the California State Superintendent of Schools for teachers of English learners

Highlighted as a “Best Practices” program for Title III professional development by CDE

The OCDE Project GLAD® model was also awarded as a model of “Academic Excellence” by the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Bilingual Education and Minority Language Affairs (OBEMLA) in 1998

In November 2017, the OCDE Project GLAD® model was the recipient of the CSBA Golden Bell Award.

The National Training Center (NTC)
