As Project GLAD® trainers, it seems we are naturally interested in language. We spend our days immersed in the topics of language development, language learning, multilingualism, and student achievement. However, there is so much more to language than what we often think and talk about.
The Apple Podcast “Subtitle” is a podcast that looks at language in a variety of ways. The description reads:
“Language unites and divides us. It mystifies and delights us. Patrick Cox and Kavita Pillay tell the stories of people with all kinds of linguistic passions: comedians, writers, researchers; speakers of endangered languages; speakers of multiple languages; and just speakers—people like you and me.”
The current list of ten podcasts includes diverse topics ranging from “Words We Love to Hate” to “Communicating with Aliens”. If you want to think more and differently about language, take some time to explore these podcasts. They will definitely engage and delight you and….maybe even challenge you to think differently about some aspects of language!
